The 2026 Solheim Cup teed off at Bernardus Golf in the Netherlands on Friday with neither side giving ground. Team USA and Team Europe finished locked at 2-2, marking just the third time in 20 editions that the first session ended square.
Nelly Korda Leads Team USA in 2026 Solheim Cup Opening Round
Nelly Korda and foursomes partner Allisen Corpuz set the pace, rolling past Charley Hull and rookie Lottie Woad in the day's first match. The pair played bogey-free golf and won three straight holes to pull away with a 4-and-3 win. The victory pushed their partnership to a perfect 5-0, the best tandem record in Solheim Cup history.
“She’s just so solid,” Korda said of her teammate. “Honestly, I enjoy playing with her so much. We have a lot of fun out there.”
But Team Europe answered quickly.
Maja Stark and Linn Grant overwhelmed Rose Zhang and Jennifer Kupcho 3-and-2 behind a 4-under front nine, while Esther Henseleit and Leona Maguire edged Andrea Lee and Lindy Duncan.
Lauren Coughlin kept Team USA level by pairing with Alison Lee to beat Nanna Koerstz Madsen and Celine Boutier 3-and-2. With afternoon fourball matches ahead, neither team has breathing room just yet.
