Alanis Morissette wowed fans at Chase Center on Monday with her rendition of the national anthem ahead of Game 2 of the 2026 WNBA Finals between the Golden State Valkyries and the Atlanta Dream.
The seven-time Grammy winner, who has called the Bay Area home for several years, gave a slowed-down performance that earned a warm ovation from the San Francisco crowd in Ballhalla.
Alanis Morissette Headlines Bay Area Talent for WNBA Finals Game 2
Morissette's appearance anchored a Bay Area-heavy entertainment slate the Valkyries put together for their first title series run. Oakland R&B singer Goapele opened the WNBA national anthem duties in Game 1 on Saturday, with EGOT winner Rita Moreno on pregame drums.
For Game 2, Too $hort handled the drum intro before Morissette's anthem. Later, Vallejo rapper LaRussell took the halftime stage.
The lineup underscored how deeply the Valkyries have leaned into regional culture during their second season.
That connection has helped the franchise sell out every home game at Chase Center since its debut. After Morissette's final note landed, the arena shifted its attention to a Finals matchup that ended with the Atlanta Dream tying the series 1-1 behind a 79-65 Game 2 win.
Game 3 moves to State Farm Arena in Atlanta on Wednesday.
