Alexandra Eala made quick work of Oleksandra Oliynykova on Thursday, rolling to a 6-1, 6-4 victory that punched her ticket to the third round of the 2026 US Open for the first time in her career.

The No. 17 seed needed just 64 minutes inside Louis Armstrong Stadium to drop the world No. 46 from Ukraine. Eala opened the match by reeling off nine consecutive points, racing to a 4-0 lead before closing the first set in 23 minutes.
Oliynykova found more rhythm in the second set, briefly pulling ahead 2-1 with steadier serving. Still, the Filipino sensation broke back and eventually pulled away at 5-3, converting her final service game to seal the win.
The result was a reversal from their last meeting. Oliynykova beat Eala on clay at the Strasbourg Open in May. This time, Eala's net game proved decisive. She won 11 of 14 points at the net while finishing with 19 winners against 17 unforced errors.
"My patience and consistency of my focus, I think that was the key to winning the match today," Eala said.
She'll next face close friend No. 14 seed Iva Jovic in a third-round showdown.
