Camila Giorgi defeated No.4 seed Karolina Pliskova to capture the Omnium Banque Nationale championship in Montreal on Sunday.
The title match marked Giorgi’s first WTA 1000 final appearance.

The Italian downed Pilskova 6-3, 7-5, with the match lasting one hour and 40 minutes.
Giorgi knocked off No. 9 Elise Mertens, No. 7 Petra Kvitova and No. 15 Coco Gauff in her run to the final in Montreal.
The 29-year-old will next face Jessica Pegula, who she beat in the Montreal semifinal, in the first round in Cincinnati.
