At 38 years old, Cat Osterman continues to make history.

As captain of the Gold team on Sunday, Osterman tossed the first no-hitter in Athletes Unlimited history in the second game of the team’s doubleheader against Team Hayward (Blue).

Osterman allowed just one run, the result of a walk and a one-out sacrifice fly in the third inning, en route to a 6-1 win.

In all, Osterman recorded five strikeouts and two walks and hit one batter. She faced 25 batters and tossed 97 pitches, overcoming two fielding errors.

Osterman also recorded her 100th career strikeout with Athletes Unlimited in the bottom of the first inning when she struck out DJ Sanders. After the game, she credited catcher Dejah Mulipola, her teammate with USA Softball and fellow silver medalist at the Tokyo Olympics.

“No-hitters are special, it doesn’t matter how many you have,” Osterman said following the game. “They’re a special thing. To be able to throw the first one in Athletes Unlimited history is incredible, but to throw it with Dejah is even more incredible.”

Osterman gained 370 points over the weekend — including 234 total points for her no-hitter — to vault to the top of the leaderboard. She is looking to defend her title after capturing Athletes Unlimited’s inaugural softball championship in 2020.
