Tuesday night’s game between Dallas and Los Angeles saw WNBA Commissioner Cathy Engelbert in attendance.

Engelbert spoke to Bally Sports during halftime of Tuesday night’s game about the growth of the league, growing involvement of former players, as well as what they have planned for the 25th anniversary season.

Alongside recognizing the 25 greatest players in league history, the league also intends to recognize the 25 greatest moments in league history.

Additionally, Engelbert said that the league plans to hold an All-Star game, with more information and details to come. The last All-Star game came in 2019, with the 2020 game cancelled due to the Olympics and then later the COVID-19 pandemic.

The fact that the WNBA is holding an All-Star game during an Olympic year is new. Past Olympic years have seen the WNBA skip the All-Star game as many stars are away playing for their home countries.

The 2019 game was held in Las Vegas, Nevada at the Mandalay Bay Events Center, with Team Wilson beating Team Delle Donne 129-126.
