Caty McNally scored a major upset in Toronto, toppling Wimbledon champion Linda Nosková 7-6(5), 6-1 to reach the third round of the 2026 Canadian Open. The US rising star's run headlined a wild slate of WTA scores at Sobeys Stadium.
Nosková, the sixth seed, jumped to a 5-1 lead in the opening set. But McNally, ranked No. 70, refused to fold.

Caty McNally broke back twice to force 5-5, then took four of the six points on Nosková's serve in the tiebreak. The 62-minute first set flipped her way, and the second turned lopsided from there.
"It's never easy playing anyone, but especially a Wimbledon champion," McNally said in her on-court interview. "And she's really dangerous, so I had to just focus on my side of the net."
Nosková's serve unraveled in the second when only 32% of her first serves found the box. She won just 18 of 51 total points in the match. The meeting was her first bit of on-court action since lifting the Wimbledon trophy last month.
McNally, meanwhile, now faces No. 25 Alexandra Eala, the newly minted DC Open champion, in Friday's third round lineup.
