Candace Parker’s “Title IX: 37 Words That Changed America” opened coverage of the Men’s Final Four on Saturday, honoring the 50th anniversary of the passage of the bill.
The feature-length documentary is Parker’s first as an executive producer, with the WNBA star’s story anchoring the project.

Parker, a two-time WNBA champion, says she is a first-generation benefactor of Title IX. The legislation, passed in 1972, states that “no person in the United States shall, on the basis of sex, be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be subjected to discrimination under any education program or activity receiving Federal financial assistance.”
The film also features interviews with Billie Jean King, Peyton Manning, Lisa Leslie and NBA commissioner Adam Silver on achieving gender equity in sports.
“To all the little girls, playing hard, putting in the work, dreaming big dreams, I see you. Keep pushing, never stop. Never stop,” Parker said of the documentary, her first with Baby Hair Productions, created alongside Scout Productions.
