Liz Cambage made headlines before she ever stepped on the court Tuesday night.

Minutes before her game against Connecticut, the Las Vegas Aces’ center went over to the Sun head coach Curt Miller for a chat.

The last time the two teams met, Miller found himself in hot water after making disparaging comments about Cambage’s weight when complaining about a call to a referee. He has since publicly apologized for his actions. Tuesday night was the first time the pair were able to clear the air face-to-face, which ended in a hug and Cambage saying, “we’re in this together.”

Despite the exchange of pleasantries, Cambage was booed loudly when introduced to the Connecticut crowd, something the Aces’ center said she used as motivation.

Cambage went off Tuesday night, scoring a season-high 28 points, shooting 64.7 percent from the field.

After the game, Cambage said of the crowd, “It really does get me going,” adding, “Thank you, Connecticut crowd-keep booing me. I loved it.”

Despite Cambage’s lights-out performance, Connecticut came away with the win, defeating the Aces 74-67. Jonquel Jones recorded her fourth consecutive 20-point game, notching 23 points and seven rebounds to power the Sun past the Aces.

The Aces will now travel to New York to take on the Liberty on Thursday. The Sun will stay at home to host the Liberty on Saturday.
