Dawn Staley isn’t shutting the door on Team USA just yet.

The U.S. women’s basketball coach is now walking back comments made after the team’s gold-medal run in Tokyo, announcing that she would not be returning for the 2024 Games.

When asked on Tuesday about her future with the team, Staley had a different outlook, comparing the experience to when a woman has just given birth and is asked about having another child.

“I’m probably about nine, 10 days removed from (the Olympics), I’m feeling a little bit differently now.”

Staley had previously recommended Minnesota Lynx coach Cheryl Reeve as her successor for the Team USA coaching job. “I’m going to leave it as is. If Cheryl’s the one, she’s the one.”

The South Carolina coach ended her remarks by saying she would be open to coaching the U.S for another run.

“If they choose to go in a different direction and come back here, I’ve never turned USA Basketball down.”
