Diana Taurasi is speaking out after being fined by the league for making inappropriate contact with a game official during Game 2 of the WNBA Finals.
The Phoenix guard says she didn’t realize it was ref Tiara Cruse who she pushed when trying to get to teammate Sophie Cunningham, who was on the ground following a heated moment with Chicago’s Kahleah Copper.

Taurasi knew after seeing the video and social media reaction to it that there would be action from the league. “When Twitter speaks, the league has to make decisions, right?”
Of the fine, Taurasi joked, “I’m used to giving donations. I feel like it’s been a while. It’s for a good cause.”
Taurasi and the Phoenix Mercury will face off against the Chicago Sky again on Sunday in a must-win Game 4 at 3 p.m. ET on ESPN.
