DiJonai Carrington returned to the court Thursday, turning a midseason Sun vs Sky game into her 2026 debut. A foot sprain suffered during last year's postseason had kept her out through training camp and the first half of the schedule.
The game also served as a reunion. Connecticut drafted Carrington in the second round back in 2021. She won Most Improved Player and made the All-Defensive First Team in 2024, then bounced through Dallas and Minnesota before signing with Chicago as a free agent this spring.

DiJonai Carrington checked in for the Sky to open the second quarter. She connected on an open three shortly after, netting her first field goal of the year.
The guard-forward posted nine points off the bench as Chicago topped Connecticut 94-88.
And Chicago needs that kind of production.
The Sky sit at 10-18, with key pieces missing across the roster. Rickea Jackson's torn ACL ended her year while Skylar Diggins is managing a knee issue on a week-to-week timeline. Carrington's ability to slide between guard and forward gives a short-handed Chicago Sky bench flexibility it didn't have a week ago.
