The Chicago Sky waived second-year guard Hailey Van Lith on Monday, as teams across the WNBA finalize their opening day rosters.
Van Lith, the 11th overall pick in the 2025 WNBA Draft, averaged 3.5 points, 1.1 rebounds, and 1.6 assists across 12.5 minutes per game during her rookie season. The former LSU and TCU star saw limited time due to injury, with the Sky eventually finishing second-to-last in the league.
ESPN's Kendra Andrews reported the Sky waived Hailey Van Lith due to "style of play preference," with multiple teams already reaching out to the guard about potential opportunities.
The move as Chicago signed veteran guard Natasha Cloud to a $555,000 WNBA contract, suggesting the team prioritized adding an experienced floor general over developing the second-year player.
Chicago underwent massive roster turnover this offseason after trading Angel Reese to the Atlanta Dream. The Sky added guards Skylar Diggins, Rickea Jackson, and Jacy Sheldon, while selecting former UCLA point guard Gabriela Jaquez fifth overall in the 2026 WNBA Draft.
The Sky opens its season against expansion side Portland on Saturday, May 9th at 9 PM ET, live on NBA TV.
