Heather Hardy is suing Jake Paul's Most Valuable Promotions (MVP) for more than $10 million over injuries she says ended her boxing career. The former WBO women's featherweight champion filed the lawsuit on September 23rd in a Dallas federal court, alleging MVP prioritized profit over her safety.
Heather Hardy Claims Amanda Serrano Rematch Caused Career-Ending Brain Injury
The case centers on Hardy's August 2023 rematch against Amanda Serrano at American Airlines Center. During the 20-minute fight, CompuBox recorded 242 power punches landed on the 44-year-old. Hardy now says that bout caused permanent brain damage, memory loss, and double vision.
Beyond the injuries, the complaint accuses Jake Paul's MVP of bypassing Hardy's promoter, Lou DiBella, who refused to arrange the fight over safety concerns. Instead, MVP allegedly used a separate entity, Holden Boxing, to sidestep regulatory scrutiny while exploiting Hardy's financial difficulties.
Hardy retired from the sport after losing vision during a light sparring session in early 2024. She launched a GoFundMe in July seeking $100,000 for medical care and living expenses.
Most Valuable Promotions Responds to Hardy's Claims
MVP responded with a statement calling Hardy a respected fighter and maintaining the bout was arranged through DiBella with proper medical clearance.
