For the eighth time in her career, Miki Sudo was crowned as the Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating Contest champion on Monday.
Consuming 40 hot dogs and buns in 10 minutes, Sudo ate 14 more than 2021 champion and second-place finisher Michelle Lesco.

Sudo sat out of last year’s competition, giving birth to her son Max just days afterward. But since her first competition in 2014, she has not lost the annual Fourth of July contest.
“I didn’t know how difficult it might be to compete after having a child,” Sudo said in a pre-recorded interview on ESPN before the match. “Max is the best thing that’s ever happened to me, and Nathan’s is second.”
Sudo has been the top-ranked female competitive eater in Major League Eating since 2014.
