Caitlin Clark continues to put herself in elite company in the NCAA women’s basketball world.
While No. 9 Iowa fell to No. 3 UConn, 86-79, on Sunday, the Hawkeyes junior shined in the loss. She posted a game-high 25 points, as well as seven rebounds and six assists.
With that stat line, she broke a record set by New York Liberty star Sabrina Ionescu during her time at Oregon, ESPN reported. The game marked the 35th of Clark’s career with at least 20 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists, passing Ionescu for the most of any NCAA Division I player in the Statspass era (since the 1999-00 season).

Clark is averaging 26.7 points per game though Iowa’s first seven games of the season, tied for third in Division I. She also is averaging 6.9 assists per game, eighth in Division I, and 6.9 rebounds per game.
The 6-foot guard has not scored fewer than 20 points in a game this season.
“I think I can almost see the game a step ahead, and that’s kind of what sets me apart and really helps me get to my spots on the floor and know what I need to do,” Clark said last season, during which she averaged 27.0 points, 8.0 rebounds and 8.0 assists through 32 games for the Hawkeyes.
Clark and the Hawkeyes garnered a No. 2 seed in the NCAA tournament last season but fell to No. 10 seed Creighton in the Round of 32. This season, Iowa will aim to make a deeper run, and they’ll rely on their star guard to lead the way.
