Jaedyn Shaw brought a record Snapdragon Stadium crowd to its feet, nodding in the game-winner to lift the San Diego Wave to a 1-0 win over Angel City FC.
The Saturday night fixture shattered the NWSL attendance record, with 32,000 fans packing the San Diego venue.
The raucous crowd erupted in the 30th minute as Shaw rose up to head in the game-winner for the Wave. Shaw’s first-half finish marks her third goal in three starts.

Shaw joined the San Diego Wave in July after going through the NWSL’s discovery process, with the league amending the entry process for the 17-year-old. San Diego acquired Shaw’s rights despite the midfielder training with Washington Spirit earlier in the NWSL season.
“She’s so mature for a 17-year-old,” San Diego Wave head coach Casey Stoney told reporters after Saturday’s game. “She’s extremely talented, and we need to manage her minutes because this is high intensity, and she’s never played at this level before, but technically she’s so talented.”
The Wave’s 1-0 shutout buoyed the club atop the NWSL standings with two games left in the regular season.
