Kayla McBride's WNBA invitation comments are making waves ahead of 2026 All-Star Weekend.
The Lynx guard pushed back Wednesday after a since-deleted B/R W Sports post claimed she, Sabrina Ionescu, and Caitlin Clark all turned down 3-Point Contest invitations.

According to McBride, however, the WNBA's invitation was far from official. She said she received a last-minute text via her agent just 48 hours before Friday's events. In her view, that hardly counted.
"I received a half a** invite to the 3 pt contest, thru my agent, in a text randomly 48 hours ago… not officially," McBride wrote on her Instagram Stories.
Her comments echoed Ionescu's response a day earlier. The Liberty star denied ever receiving a formal invite and called the reports "lies." Together, their pushback raised questions about how the league handles WNBA All-Star Game logistics.
Meanwhile, McBride enters the break on a tear. Over her last eight games, the five-time All-Star averaged 26.8 points on 54.5% shooting, including 50% from 3-point range. Still, she offered support to the six participants competing Friday in Chicago.
"We should focus on the great shooters in it already. There's some killas in there," she continued. "Good luck to all those participating."
