Kenin, Stephens, Gauff and Williams advance to fourth round of French Open

No.4 seed Sofia Kenin defeated Jessica Pegula 4-6, 6-1 6-4 to progress to the fourth round of the French Open. After a slow start, Kenin hammered home six aces and 48 winners to secure her spot in the round of 16. The American is the highest-ranked player remaining at Roland-Garros.

Kenin will next play Maria Sakkari fresh off her emphatic 7-5, 6-7(2), 6-2 win over Elise Mertens.

Sloane Stephens secured her place in the fourth round with a 6-3, 7-5 upset over No.18 Karolina Muchova. The 2018 runner-up will next face Barbora Krejcikova in her journey back to the French Open finals.

Coco Gauff rolled to the fourth round on Saturday as well after her opponent Jennifer Brady was forced to retire due to injury. Prior to Brady’s retirement, Gauff led the match 6-1.  The 17-year-old will see Ons Jabeur in the round of 16.

Serena Williams sailed to a 6-4, 6-4 third-round victory over Danielle Collins, advancing the superstar to the round of 16. Williams will continue on the quest for her 24th Grand Slam title when she plays No.21 Elena Rybakina on Sunday.
