Lindsey Horan will not take the pitch during the Portland Thorns’ semifinal match against the Chicago Red Stars, sitting out with an eye injury.

“I took a very serious knock to my eye during training yesterday that resulted in loss of vision for a few hours,” wrote Horan. “I am doing better but due to the severity of the knock the doctors felt it best that I do not play as there could be serious long term consequences.”
Horan added that she expects to make a full recovery in the next few days. The Thorns will also be without Crystal Dunn, who is out due to pregnancy. On the other side of the ball, the Chicago Red Stars will miss Mallory Pugh and Kayla Sharples, who are sidelined due to COVID-19 protocols.
The Portland Thorns host the Chicago Red Stars at Providence Park on Sunday at 5:30 p.m. ET, broadcast on CBS Sports Network.
