Napheesa Collier is going to be a mom, expecting her first child, a baby girl, with fiancé Alex Bazzell.

The Lynx forward announced her pregnancy in People Magazine on Sunday, with her WNBA team confirming the news in an official statement.

“I am very excited to start a family with my fiancé Alex,” said Collier in the team’s announcement. “Having a child is truly a beautiful journey and I am grateful to have the support of our families, friends and the Lynx as I begin this special chapter of motherhood.”

The 25-year-old met Bazzell during her freshman year at the University of Connecticut when he became her full-time trainer, and the two began dating during Collier’s junior year.

Collier tells People Magazine that she is looking to her fellow WNBA colleagues for inspiration in her journey to motherhood.

“Candace Parker would be someone that I look up to,” Collier says, “Because the way she’s been able to be such an elite athlete, the love that she has for her daughter is so admirable and the way that she juggles it.”

Collier and Bazzell are expecting their baby girl in May 2022.

Outside of her ascendant basketball career, Collier also hosts Tea with A & Phee alongside A’ja Wilson, a Just Women’s Sports podcast that takes listeners behind the scenes of the WNBA.
