Playing at the CFX Classic in Orlando on Thursday, the two teams exchanged blows throughout the game. UCF consistently scored through the second, third and fourth innings with Georgia bringing it back in the fourth. Jaiden Fields and Sydney Chambley each notched two–run home runs to help tie the game at 6-6 in the fifth inning.
Neither team managed another run, sending it into extra innings where UCF walked it off.
It was Georgia head coach Tony Baldwin’s first game after Lu Harris-Champer retired following 21 seasons with the Bulldogs.
“I thought defensively, we kept ourselves in the game, we made some unbelievable plays,” said Baldwin. “Double plays, throwing runners out, really proud of the defense. I thought we did a good job of answering back.”
