Georgia Tech upset No. 3 UConn on Thursday night in a 57-44 victory that snapped the Huskies’ 239-game winning streak against unranked opponents.

The last time UConn lost to an unranked team was 2012 against St. John’s. It was also UConn’s lowest-scoring game since the Huskies lost to Rutgers 48-42 in 2006.

The Huskies were without Paige Bueckers, who is out six to eight weeks with a tibial plateau fracture in her knee, as well as star freshman Azzi Fudd, Nika Mühl and Aubrey Griffin. Olivia Nelson-Ododa led UConn with 12 points and 10 rebounds.

The game was tied 39-39 entering the fourth quarter after a sluggish offensive start for both teams. The Yellow Jackets went on an 18-5 run in the fourth that blew the game open, with senior guard Lotta-Maj Lahtinen leading all scorers with 15 points. In total, the Yellow Jackets shot 37.9 percent to the Huskies’ 31.

Georgia Tech coach Nell Fortner became just the fourth coach to beat Geno Auriemma in their first game against the UConn legend. An NCAA Sweet 16 team last season, Georgia Tech (7-2) entered the game unranked after falling out of the poll following a loss to Auburn on Nov. 21.

UConn (5-2) is back in action against UCLA on Saturday at 1 p.m. ET before meeting No. 7 Louisville on Dec. 19.
