The NWSLPA issued a statement on Tuesday demanding the NWSL and Board of Governors agree to a contract before preseason begins next Tuesday.
NWSL players, who have threatened a boycott if a CBA isn’t in place by that deadline, echoed the NWSLPA’s statement Tuesday along with th eplayers unions of other professional sports leagues. Notably, U.S. women’s national team stars have voiced their support. Since a December agreement with U.S. Soccer allowed them to join the NWSLPA, their USWNT contracts do not prevent them from joining a strike in the NWSL if necessary.
USWNT and San Diego Wave forward Alex Morgan shared the official statement on Twitter with the caption “#contractnow.”
