As the WNBA’s “The W25” unveiled a list of the 25 greatest and most influential players in league history over the weekend, Just Women’s Sports took a poll of our own.

JWS surveyed 30 people, including former WNBA players as well as current and former WNBA head coaches, assistant coaches, general managers and team staff members. Ours included a slightly different voting criteria, which included players such as Candice Dupree and Vickie Johnson, who were absent from the WNBA ballot, while also giving voters a write-in option.

From the results, only four players were voted unanimously into the Top 25: Tamika Catchings, Maya Moore, Sheryl Swoopes and Diana Taurasi.

Perhaps the most surprising snub, Sue Bird was not a unanimous selection, receiving only 28 out of 30 possible votes. Bird, for her part, insists Diana Taurasi is the GOAT. Also receiving 28 votes in the Just Women’s Sports poll were Cynthia Cooper and Candace Parker.

A’ja Wilson and Dawn Staley just missed out on the Top 25 with 13 votes, one vote shy of 25th-ranked Nneka Ogwumike, who received 14 votes.
