UConn’s Paige Bueckers returned to practice with the Huskies Wednesday after injuring her knee earlier this season.

The sophomore guard has been out since Dec. 5, when she was helped off the court during UConn’s matchup against Notre Dame. That same month, Bueckers had surgery to repair an anterior tibial plateau fracture in her left knee. The procedure has an eight-week projected post-operation recovery period.

Coach Geno Auriemma provided an update on Bueckers’s rehabilitation, telling reporters that she was able to join practice with “some semblance of defense and she could run up and down the floor a couple times… for a few minutes.”

Previously, Buecker’s father had expressed concern about his daughter’s return, saying the original 6-8 week timeline seemed too short.

No. 10 UConn will next take on Xavier on Friday on the road in Cincinnati.
