Paige Bueckers has had surgery to repair an anterior tibial plateau fracture in her left knee, UConn announced on Tuesday.
In addition, a previously unannounced lateral meniscus tear was also repaired.
Bueckers’ estimated recovery time is eight weeks from Monday, which could mean a return around February 7. The sophomore standout will miss the remainder of UConn’s non conference play – including the much-anticipated rematch with South Carolina on January 27th– but could return in time to finish out Big East play as well as the conference tournament.
Bueckers went down in early December during UConn’s matchup with Notre Dame. At the time, she led the Huskies in points, assists and steals.
In the two games since Bueckers went down, UConn is 1-1 – including a historic loss to Georgia Tech that snapped a 239 game win streak against unranked opponents.
UConn currently sits at No. 7 in the rankings, the lowest ranking for the program since 2007.
