Shelby Rogers came from behind to upset No. 1 Ashleigh Barty 6-2, 1-6, 7-6(5) in the third round of the US Open on Saturday, making her the last American woman standing at the tournament.

The 28-year-old battled back from a 5-2 deficit in the third set, forcing a dramatic final set tiebreak.

The win was Rogers’ first over Barty, who was 4-0 in their previous matchups.

“I think tonight going on the court, I told myself I didn’t want to lose the same way I lost the last five times against her,” Rogers said after the match. “I just tried to do things a little bit differently. In the first set I mixed in some high balls, I was super patient with her slice because she’s not going to miss one very often. I know that very well.”

Rogers will next play 18-year-old Emma Raducanu of Britain in the Round of 16.
