Indiana Fever guard Sophie Cunningham made her national television debut as a commentator on USA Network this week. She called a doubleheader that included a Las Vegas Aces vs. Phoenix Mercury matchup, offering up some colorful analysis rooted in her eight years of WNBA experience.
Cunningham Brings Broadcasting Background to USA Network's WNBA Deal
The broadcast role is part of USA Network's 11-year media deal with the league. The agreement brings at least 50 nationally televised games per season from 2026 through 2036.
Cunningham, though, didn't arrive without preparation. She previously worked as a guest analyst on the Phoenix Suns' pre- and postgame broadcasts in 2022. She also co-hosts Show Me Something, a podcast she launched with Summer House star West Wilson last July.
Still, live TV brought its own nerves. Before the broadcast, Cunningham joked on social media: "Please don't cuss please don't cuss please don't cuss."
USA Network played along afterward, posting that they had to cut her mic a few times, with a laughing emoji to match.
Cunningham joins Fever teammates Aliyah Boston and Caitlin Clark as active WNBA players who have taken on media roles. She'll continue to play for Indiana during the regular season while pulling double duty on-air.
