Swedish international Stina Blackstenius has signed with Arsenal, the Women’s Super League club announced Friday.
The 25-year-old previously played with BK Hacken before her contract expired at the start of 2022. Blackstenius finished 2021 as the Swedish league’s top scorer, notching 17 goals and eight assists in 21 appearances.
“It feels amazing to be here, I’m so happy to join such a big and great club like Arsenal,” said Blackstenius. “I got a really good first impression about this club, they play really good football and I wanted to be a part of that.”

The Swedish striker has excelled for both club and country, clinching two Swedish league titles and three Swedish Cups in her time with Hacken and Linkopings FC.
Playing for Sweden, Blackstenius led her team to two Olympic silver medals and a third-place finish at the 2019 World Cup. Blackstenius put on a particularly impressive performance during the 2020 Tokyo Games, recording five goals, including a brace in the team’s group-stage match against the United States.
“We’re delighted to have signed Stina,” said head coach Jonas Eidevall. “She is a world-class talent who will add even more quality to our team.”
“Everyone at the club is thrilled to announce the signing of Stina,” said head of women’s football Clare Wheatley. “She is one of the best forwards in the world and a significant number of clubs were interested in securing her signature this summer, so we are delighted to have made her an Arsenal player.”
Arsenal currently sits atop the Women’s Super League standings with 25 points, four more than second-place Chelsea. The Gunners will face off against sixth-ranked Reading on Sunday.
