Olympic gold medalist Sydney McLaughlin broke her own world record in the 400-meter hurdles at the USA Track and Field outdoor championships Saturday.

McLaughlin crossed the line at 51.41 seconds, besting her previous record time of 51.46 from the Tokyo Olympics.

“I was just going to finish the race,” McLaughlin told Lewis Johnson on NBC after the race. “We knew anything was possible. I’m really grateful for it.”

Also competing in Eugene Saturday was Allyson Felix, who finished sixth in the 400m run in her last national championship race. Talitha Diggs of Florida won the 400 event, recording a time of 50.22 seconds.

The top three finishers in each national championship race will compete for the United States at the world championships, which will also be held at Hayward Field in Eugene in July.
