The world No. 115 battled to a 6-3, 7-5 win to advance to the round of 16.

Pliskova held serve to tie the second set at 5-5 but was broken eight times in the match. It’s Haddad Maia’s second career win over a Top-5 player.
Defending champion Bianca Andreescu is also out after losing to Anett Kontaveit, while Coco Gauff exited following a loss to Paula Badosa.
