Thorns announce $150,000 scholarship fund focused on women’s rights

The Portland Thorns have announced a new scholarship focused on women’s rights and gender equity.

In a recent email sent out to season-ticket holders, the club said it will direct the $150,000 scholarship fund to local initiatives in an effort to “continue to make our organization and our community better.”

The Thorns have also extended the deadline for season-ticket holders to decide on ticket renewal. The email said that they “can take up to several months” before giving their answer.
