Ertz has been a member of the USWNT since 2013, totaling 116 appearances and tallying 20 goals. She was also a member of the NWSL’s Chicago Red Stars before being traded to Angel City in December. In early February, the club said she is not expected to play in the 2022 season. Angel City still retains her rights.
Ertz announced her pregnancy in April, with Ertz joining a long list of soccer stars to expand their families this year. Fellow USWNT star and Portland Thorns defender Crystal Dunn gave birth to a baby boy in May while Gotham FC stars Ashlyn Harris and Ali Krieger announced Tuesday that they had adopted a baby boy born in August.
Allie Long and Kealia Watt also have announced pregnancies this year.
