Washington Spirit star Trinity Rodman rocked the red carpet at her first ESPYs on Wednesday night, though she admitted that the experience was “nerve-wracking.”
“I’m 20, I’m a little girl in this environment,” she said. “But it’s so cool to be around so many amazing athletes and celebrities. I’m excited but it is nerve-wracking.”

Rodman was nominated for Best Breakthrough Athlete, which wound up going to Olympic gold medalist skier Eileen Gu. Also nominated in the category were Indianapolis Colts running back Jonathan Taylor and Memphis Grizzlies point guard Ja Morant.
The 20-year-old forward said she was most excited to meet NBA star Steph Curry, who was hosting the awards show. But she was also excited to be wearing couture – a step up from her everyday attire.
She stunned in the see-through black dress, asserting that she wanted to do “something crazy, something fun” yet still elegant.
This may have been her first awards show, but she said she hopes it isn’t her last.
“Every year I want to branch out, I want to get better and come to so many events moving forward,” she said. “I hope I’m scratching the surface.”
