Editor’s note: This story has been updated to reflect a correction regarding NWSL team vaccination rates.

Approximately 95 percent of the 21 players on the current U.S. women’s senior national team roster are vaccinated against COVID-19, according to a U.S. Soccer representative.

In September, the rate was between 80 and 90 percent.

Since then, there have been no changes to the roster other than Crystal Dunn opting out of the upcoming friendlies against Korea Republic and Emily Fox coming in.

While all U.S. Soccer staff members are required to have the COVID-19 vaccine, senior team players are not, which, according to U.S. Soccer, is a result of the collective bargaining agreement. Players in the youth national team program, however, are required to be fully vaccinated.

Currently, there is no separate mask mandate for unvaccinated USWNT players.

U.S. Soccer said it has no official statement regarding its vaccine and mask policies for senior team players.

In the NWSL, the Portland Thorns have been fully vaccinated since April. The Equalizer’s Jeff Kassouf reported in September that every NWSL team except the Washington Spirit was more than 85 percent vaccinated as of late July, and that eight of 10 teams were more than 90 percent vaccinated. The Spirit, who had a team vaccination rate under 85 percent as of late September, were forced to forfeit two regular season games due to a COVID-19 outbreak.

The Houston Dash and Dynamo organization reported a vaccination rate of 96 to 100 percent, and OL Reign confirmed that 28 of their 29 players have the vaccine. The Orlando Pride joined the Thorns with a rate of 100 percent in September.

The USWNT plays Korea Republic on Thursday night in the first of two friendlies, which will be the last international games of Carli Lloyd’s career.
