The U.S. women’s national team captured the 2022 SheBelieves Cup in commanding fashion on Wednesday with a 5-0 victory over Iceland.
The game was a winner-take-all match after Iceland won its first two matches while the USWNT tied with the Czech Republic before defeating New Zealand.
Catarina Macario got the U.S. on the board first, with goals in the 37th and 45th minutes. She later assisted on the second of two goals scored by Mallory Pugh. As a result, Macario was named MVP of the tournament, becoming the youngest player to earn the honor at 22 years old.
