Veronica Burton picked apart New York's defense Thursday, dishing 13 assists without a single turnover as her stats fueled the Golden State Valkyries' 79-60 win over the Liberty at Barclays Center.
Veronica Burton Records Statistical Feat in Valkyries vs Liberty
Burton's stat line was both efficient and rare.
In 27 minutes, she generated 32 points for teammates with a plus-17 rating. She became only the third WNBA player this season to record 13+ assists with zero turnovers, and just the second ever to do so multiple times, joining Chicago vet Courtney Vandersloot.
Still, the win was far from a solo effort. Cecilia Zandalasini led all scorers with 20 points, including four 3-pointers. Gabby Williams added 16 with four of her own, and Tiffany Hayes scored 12 off the bench.
New York Offense Struggles in Season-Low WNBA Performance
New York, meanwhile, never found its footing. Sabrina Ionescu managed just seven points on 2-for-12 shooting, including a 1-for-9 clip from deep. The Liberty shot 30.2% from the field overall. Their 60 points marked a season low, ending a 16-game streak of scoring 80 or more.
With the win, Golden State improved to 28-11 and completed a 3-0 season sweep of the Liberty. No other team has done that against New York this year.
