The NWSL announced on Saturday that the Washington Spirit’s match against the Portland Thorns was canceled due to four positive COVID-19 cases among the Spirit.

The game will be rescheduled in accordance with health and safety protocols.
Pablo Iglesias Maurer of The Athletic has reported that there are multiple unvaccinated players on the Spirit.

Details on rescheduling the contest will be announced in the coming days, according to the league. In the meantime, Portland owner Merritt Paulson says “Frustration level is very high given the facts as I understand them.”
