Candace Parker was in top form Tuesday as the Chicago Sky took down the New York Liberty 90-72 to clinch a spot in the WNBA semifinals.
Six Sky players finished in double-digits, including all five starters. Parker had 14 points, 13 rebounds and eight assists — two shy of her fourth career triple-double. When asked postgame why she didn’t push for those final two assists, Parker gave a lighthearted reply.
“I’m old, Holly,” she told ESPN’s Holly Rowe. “I’m old in basketball years. But our team did a good job of grinding it out and giving what they had.”
Her eight assists did move her up to sixth on the all-time postseason leaderboard with 224, passing Tamika Catchings. Additionally, her 13 rebounds put her in second on the all-time playoffs rebounds list with 112, passing Sylvia Fowles.
Parker also had two blocks on the night to reach 100 career playoff blocks. Just two other players have reached triple digits: Lisa Leslie and Brittney Griner.

At one point in the fourth quarter, the Liberty pulled within three, but the Sky went on to score 16 unanswered points, including back-to-back 3-pointers from Allie Quigley.
“We stayed with it, I think we learned from Game 1,” Parker said. “This is a great New York team. They’ve got a young core, they shoot the 3 well. So we really have to be disciplined.”
Courtney Vandersloot also finished with a double-double, putting up 14 points and 10 assists.
In contrast, just three Liberty players were in double-digits, with Betnijah Laney leading all scorers with 15 points. Natasha Howard had 14 points and 11 rebounds.
