The Indiana Fever added veteran guard Ty Harris in WNBA free agency over the weekend, bringing the Indianapolis native home as the team continues to build toward the 2026 season.
Indiana announced Harris's signing this weekend, giving the Fever an experienced backup point guard behind star Caitlin Clark. The sixth-year player returns to her home state after stops in Dallas and Connecticut.
The move addresses a clear need: The Fever entered the offseason focused on adding backcourt depth, with Harris providing another reliable ball-handler and perimeter defender.
In a team statement, Fever COO and general manager Amber Cox pointed to both fit and familiarity.
“We’re excited to add Ty to our backcourt," she said. "She is a dynamic guard who will add depth to our rotation. She brings great experience, not only playing in the league, but for our coaching staff as well.”
That connection matters. Harris played under head coach Stephanie White with the Sun, arriving already familiar with the coach's system. In Connecticut, Harris posted career highs, averaging 10.5 points, 3 assists, and 1 steal per game in 2024 while shooting 39.5% from beyond the arc.
Harris's move also carries personal significance.
"Being back in Indy means a lot to me, and I’m grateful for the opportunity to join an organization that's building something special," she said. "I'm focused on continuing to grow, bringing energy every day, and doing whatever it takes to help this team win."
Harris's 2025 season was cut short by a left knee injury after five games with Dallas. However, Indiana is betting on her experience and shot-making ability in 2026.
The signing fits the Fever's broader offseason push after last year's playoff run. Indiana has already retained key pieces, adding depth around Clark and Aliyah Boston as 2026 WNBA free agency heats up.
