The WTA is making strides, dropping its 2027 calendar this week while continuing to push for equal prize money between men’s and women’s tours.
All seven combined 1000-level events will award equal payouts across next year’s WTA and ATP draws. That’s up from four in 2026.
The WTA is also introducing a targeted Tournament Investment Fund designed to assist select tournaments by directing financial support to markets where it will make the greatest impact.
Equal pay and other changes are being driven by the recently launched Tour Architecture Council. The committee of players, tournament organizers, and WTA leaders is chaired by world No. 3 Jessica Pegula.
“The 2027 changes give us more ability to build our seasons around our own goals — competitively and personally,” said Pegula. “That’s an impactful step forward.”
