Iga Swiatek has withdrawn from the upcoming German Open in Berlin, also known as the bett1open, citing a “recurrent discomfort” in her shoulder.
“I’m sorry I will not be able to play there,” said the recent French Open winner. “I will focus on recovery and rest in order to be ready for Wimbledon.”

Swiatek has been on a roll since the year began, running off 35 straight match wins to tie Venus Williams for the longest winning streak of this century and the third-longest streak since 1990. She also joined Serena Williams as the only women to have won six titles in the first six months of a year.
Her grip on the No. 1 world ranking is also staggering. With 8,631 points, the 21-year-old holds a 4,305-point lead on second-ranked Anett Kotaveit.
At Wimbledon last year, Swiatek lost to Ons Jabeur in the fourth round.
