Simone Charley’s leaping header in the 29th minute proved to be the game-winner, with Olivia Moultrie providing the assist in her first start for the Thorns. Saturday’s go-ahead finish marks Charley’s fourth goal of the season.

Portland now sits seven points clear from North Carolina at the top of the NWSL standings.
