Sloane Stephens is on to the third round at the US Open after defeating Coco Gauff in straight sets, 6-4, 6-2, in the second round.
The 2017 champion was clinical in the 66 minute match, taking the first set easily in Arthur Ashe Stadium.

She was even better in the second round, taking the second set 6-2 to send the 17-year-old home.

Bad weather all day forced some matches to be postponed, as only two courts at Flushing Meadows can be covered during bad weather.
Three-time Grand Slam champion Angelique Kerber’s match against Anhelina Kalinina was postponed until Thursday. The winner of that match will take on Stephens in the third round.

Instead, she'll set her sights on the doubles bracket.
