
Los Angeles Sparks are quietly crushing WNBA free agency
All eyes are on the Aces and Liberty, but don't overlook LA.
The Atlanta Dream announced Wednesday that they have traded for the No. 1 overall pick in the upcoming WNBA draft.

The Dream sent the No. 3 overall pick and No. 14 overall pick to the Washington Mystics in exchange for the top spot on the board. Additionally, Washington will have the opportunity to swap its 2023 first round pick with the one Atlanta acquired from Los Angeles earlier this year.
The Dream now have the No. 1 and No. 15 picks in the 2022 draft.
It’s the second time in franchise history that the Dream will pick first overall in the draft.
Angel McCoughtry, who is set to be featured in an upcoming documentary about the WNBA, was the team’s other No. 1 overall pick in 2009. She went on to make five WNBA All-Star appearances with the team and led the Dream to three WNBA Finals appearances in 2010, 2011 and 2013. McCoughtry now plays for the Minnesota Lynx.
The 2022 WNBA draft is scheduled for Monday, April 11, at 7 p.m. ET on ESPN.
