Emma Navarro and Marie Bouzkova each punched their ticket to the third round at Wimbledon 2026 on Thursday, but their paths couldn't have looked more different.
Emma Navarro Rallies Past Selekhmeteva in 3-Set Wimbledon Win
Navarro dropped the opening set against Oksana Selekhmeteva before rallying to win 3-6, 6-4, 6-1. The No. 23 seed fell behind early as the No. 91-ranked Selekhmeteva controlled the opening set with sharp second-serve play. But Navarro seized a 4-1 advantage in the second set and never looked back, wrapping up the match in under two hours.
The win marks a return to form for Navarro after taking time off earlier this year for health issues. She now has 14 wins in her past 18 tour-level matches and a third consecutive trip to the Wimbledon third round.
Marie Bouzkova Storms Into Wimbledon 3rd Round
Bouzkova took a more direct route to the next stage of Wimbledon 2026.
The No. 21 seed shook off an early break to defeat Italian qualifier Tyra Caterina Grant 7-5, 6-3. The win pushes her grass-court record to 7-2 this season. It's also her third trip to the Wimbledon third round after her best Grand Slam result came here in 2022, when she reached the quarterfinals.
Next, Bouzkova faces Liudmila Samsonova, who upset No. 15 seed Diana Shnaider 6-4, 4-6, 6-2. Samsonova leads their head-to-head 3-2, though Bouzkova won their only previous grass-court meeting.
