Alexandra Eala moved into the third round of the 2026 Canadian Open on Wednesday. The No. 25 seed beat US star Alycia Parks 6-1, 4-6, 6-2 in Toronto.
It was her second straight win in Toronto after taking home her first singles trophy in Washington just two days earlier.

Alex Eala built an early lead, winning five games in a row from 1-1 to close out the first set. Parks steadied in the second, holding through pressure and grabbing a late break to level the match.
But the 21-year-old rising star responded quickly in the decider. Eala grabbed the crucial break at 2-2, then took the next three games to win in one hour, 51 minutes.
"I tried to come out hot and just take all the opportunities that I could, because she doesn't really give you much," Eala said postmatch.
The result pushed her to 6-1 in opening rounds at WTA 1000 stops this year. She also made history as no Filipino tennis player, men's or women's, had ever won a main-draw match in Toronto until this week.
Eala will now face Caty McNally in the third round of Canadian Open play on Friday.
