Iga Świątek is one win from the 2026 Canadian Open final. The Polish star overpowered Diana Shnaider 6-2, 6-1 on Monday in Toronto, wrapping up the quarterfinal match in just 68 minutes. The No. 7 seeds next meets Elina Svitolina on Wednesday in the semifinals.
The lopsided scoreline traced back to Shnaider's inability to handle Świątek's baseline weight.

Errors leaked out early as the Russian racked up a dozen unforced miscues in the first set alone, while Świątek pounced for two breaks to take it 6-2. From there, the second set followed the same script.
The six-time Grand Slam winner held every service game, opened a 5-1 gap with a cross-court winner that hugged the sideline, and finished the job on a Shnaider forehand that landed long.
"I've been feeling good on the court. I know how much I practiced and what we did [during] the practices," she said afterwards. "This is giving me confidence. It's just a matter of being in a good place that day and using it."
Next up for Świątek is Svitolina, who booked the semifinals after climbing out of a set down against Ekaterina Alexandrova, winning 3-6, 6-0, 6-3. Theirs will be a rematch of the Rome semifinal in May, where the Ukrainian upended Świątek in three sets.
Still, this recent run marks Świątek's first WTA 1000 semifinal of 2026. She prevailed past a bumpy stretch that prompted a coaching switch from Wim Fissette to Francisco Roig.
She'll head to the US Open with momentum no matter the result later this week.
