Alexandra Eala's second-round run at the 2026 Singapore Open ended in an upset on Thursday. Tatiana Prozorova, ranked No. 180 in the world, scored a 4-6, 7-5, 6-3 comeback win over the WTA tournament's No. 3 seed in three hours and nine minutes.

Eala appeared firmly in control at the Asian swing event after the first set with a 4-2 lead in the second. But Prozorova fought back, taking five of the next six games to force a decider. She then pulled away in the third to secure the match.
The victory gave the 22-year-old her first career win over a Top 20 opponent. Before this week in Singapore, she had just three WTA Tour-level wins to her name. Still, late rallies have defined her tournament. In the first round, she fell behind Sofia Costoulas by a set and a break before winning in three.
For Eala, the early loss is a rare blemish on her record this season. The Filipina phenom hasn't dropped a match to a player outside the Top 100 since September 2025. That defeat came at the September 2025 Jingshan WTA 125 against Lulu Sun.
Prozorova next faces Wang Xinyu in the quarterfinals on Friday.
